Linocut Printing
It works just like a stamp, with a mirror image of the design carved into a sheet of linoleum and then printed onto paper or fabric with a lot of force. We will print on our shirts with oil-based fabric inks using linocut and a heavy-duty printing press.
We will have a few different designs to choose from and we will have the printing press set up on Saturday morning at VUN.
How does it work?
It’s quite simple: You bring the shirt and with our help you print yourself a VUN festival shirt!
At least 80% cotton
That is the first requirement! The shirt should not be too stretchy or too textured or the print won’t stay! Best to get an all cotton shirt!
Color
We will print with white and black ink so you can choose what color combo you would like! The black ink looks good on white of course, but really shines on brighter, bolder colors! The white print is for very dark colored shirts, obviously!
Pick a fit and size perfect for you
No need to make due with weird fabric, an ugly cut or scratchy prints when getting your festival shirt! YOU choose a shirt that YOU like and bring it to VUN and get exactly the shirt you want and not another „Sleep-Shirt“ (the ladies know what I’m talking about)!
Wash it once before
Get the factory gunk out with a regular wash! The print will be much more beautiful and durable!
Take home to dry
You can take it home at the end of VUN. It should be dry to the touch but we will provide a little bag for you to transport it home! Once you get home you just hang it to dry at room temperature for a week. Then you iron it on the backside (on low to medium heat) and then wash it like you would a normal shirt with lukewarm water (should be absolutely fine in the washing machine with 30°)
Disclaimer!
Since the prints are done by hand there is always a chance that they won’t turn out perfect! That is part of the charm of handmade art! The print will also fade a bit with the first wash. We can’t predict how much, as each fabric is different!
